about Mackenzie

Hello! My name’s Mackenzie — I’m a lifelong artist and lover of beautiful design currently based in Washington, D.C.

As an artist, I love to create works that are inspired by nature and my extensive travels. I work in a variety of media including watercolor, acrylic, and oil pastel, and I often like to experiment with layering all three in one piece. I would consider my style to lie somewhere between abstract and realism, and I take a lot of inspiration from artists I admire like Henri Matisse and Paul Cezanne.

As a professional designer, I also love to explore the links between environmental sustainability, human well-being, and design. I have always felt that it’s my responsibility to consider how my designs impact others and the planet, and now I primarily do that through designing and sourcing natural, organic fabric. I love working with textiles, because I consider it to be a medium that touches diverse industries, has a strong impact on the environment and human health, and acts as a canvas for further artistic exploration. Although I consider my textile designs to be a facet of my art practice, my fabrics and textile goods can be found under my textile brand Textile Heart Textiles.

My hope is that my artwork and textiles will brighten the spaces and lives they touch & leave a lasting, positive impact on the world.
